Griottines

Griottines are Morello cherries steeped in liqueur until sweet, used to decorate cakes and desserts, fill bonbons, or garnish hot chocolate and cocktails. They are made from the Oblachinska cherry, a Morello variety found only in the Balkans, and macerated in a succession of alcohols to an age-old recipe.

Which Griottines Should I Choose?

Griottines 'Original' in Kirsch are stoned, ready for bonbons and desserts. Chopped Griottines come in a thickened juice, so they spoon neatly into a filling or a layered dessert, and Griottines 'Decor' keep the stalk on, which makes them the obvious choice for the top of a Black Forest gateau.

What Is Cassis?

Cassis are blackcurrants made to the same traditional recipe as Griottines, with slight variations to the liqueur for flavour. Use them in desserts and bonbons, or drop a couple into a champagne flute and top with creme de cassis and champagne for a Kir Royale.
